WUFF is thrilled to present the latest found footage masterpiece by Australian remix legends Soda Jerk, at our tenth annual festival, with Soda Jerk themselves in attendance.

Our history with S J goes back to the early Open City Cinema days,
with a screening of their first feature film Hollywood Burn in 2012. Since then their work has been a fixture of some of our most memorable screenings — The Was on the Forth rooftop in 2017, TERROR NULLIUS in the packed Sunroom in 2018. Their latest feature, Hello Dankness, is a staggeringly ambitious and deliriously funny direct decent into the cultural madness of the past 7 years, and is absolute required viewing.

Hello Dankness, dir. Soda Jerk
2017 | AU | 70 min | Canadian premiere
Comprised entirely of hundreds of pirated film samples, Hello Dankness is a bent suburban musical that bears witness to the psychotropic cultural spectacle of the period 2016 to 2021. Set in the American suburbs, the film follows a neighbourhood through these years as consensus reality disintegrates into conspiracies and other political contagions. Part political satire, part zombie stoner film, and part Greek tragedy, the work is also informed by the encrypted memetics of contemporary internet culture.
